{"id":582,"date":"2013-10-08T19:38:23","date_gmt":"2013-10-08T17:38:23","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2018-11-01T00:09:22","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T23:09:22","slug":"installing-kali-linux-virtualbox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nil.uniza.sk\/en\/installing-kali-linux-virtualbox\/","title":{"rendered":"Installing Kali Linux on VirtualBox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t<strong>Prerequisities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n<li>\n\t\tDownloaded the KALI Linux ISO image from<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kali.org\/downloads\/\">&nbsp;the site<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tInstalled&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/dlc.sun.com\/virtualbox\/vboxdownload.html\">free Oracle VM VirtualBox<\/a>&nbsp;application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t<strong>Steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t1) Create a linux virtualPC (linux\/debian) inside of the VirtualBox and setup its parameters (RAM, number of CPU, disk size (should be more as 8GB), Network connection)<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t2) Insert iso image into a virtual CD<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t3) Start the virtual machine. After that a menu appear where we may directly choose to install Kali<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t4) Choose install option from the initial menu<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">5) The installation process wil start, so follow installation steps&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">(as usually we do during installing debian)&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">and select language, territory, locale setting, key map, hostname, domain, root password, partitioning (default option to use all the disk is OK for the begining) and so on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t6) after installation the system will remove CD and is going to reboot. Then we are able to login as the root with the password choosen during the installation<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t7) so&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">login as the root with choosen password<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t9) now we will install Vbox guest addition to be able work&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">better<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">with the dispaly resolution, mouse and so on. Usual option, where we choose from the virtualbox menu &quot;Devices&quot; and then Install guest additions does not work directly and end with the message &quot;Unable to locae autorun&quot;. Therefore we have to first type :<\/span><\/p>\n<pre style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\r\napt-get update\r\napt-get install -y linux-headers-$(uname -r)<\/pre>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; line-height: 13.199999809265137px;\">\n\tand then the process of installing guest additions we may repeat, but still we can not to select Run (but cancel).
